The ASCE Mid-Pacific Student Water Treatment Competition is an annual competition among ASCE student university chapters from California, China, and Canada. The competition is held at a host University on an annual rotation, as part of the ASCE Mid-Pacific Annual Student Conference. The 2014 conference will be hosted in Fresno, California by California State University, Fresno on April 3rd-5th. The competition is co-sponsored by the University of the Pacific.
The Water Treatment competition objectives are to provide civil & environmental engineering students an opportunity to increase leadership and project management skills and to increase awareness of technologies and opportunities in the water/wastewater fields by way of engaging with other students, faculty, and industry professionals on a practical design project.
The competition includes designing, constructing, testing, and presenting a water treatment filtration system composed of only materials found at a hardware store or supplier.
